
Roopa Purushothaman
Roopa Purushothaman is the founder of Avasara Academy. She is also an economist and the Head of Research at Everstone Capital. Roopa has written extensively on demographics, education, income and consumption patterns. Previously, Roopa was a vice president and global economist at Goldman Sachs. While at GS, Roopa co-authored the report: ‘Dreaming with BRICs: The Path to 2050’, along with other published papers on topics such as long-term growth in India, migration, women’s employment and global aging and consumption patterns. She is a member of the Prime Minister’s advisory committee for JNNURM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission) and she is a member of the Aspen Institute’s India Leadership Initiative. Roopa holds a BA in Ethics, Politics and Economics and International Studies from Yale University and an MSc in Development Studies from the London School of Economics.

Joseph Cubas
Joseph Cubas is the Head of School at Avasara Academy. Previously, he served as the Director of Institutional Advancement at the American School of Bombay. In this role, he worked with the Superintendent to support and facilitate the work of the Board of Trustees. He oversaw the school’s print and media communications and managed the school’s online presence. He also oversaw the development and implementation of the school’s Strategic Plan and advised the Leadership Team on the development of systems and processes across all functional areas of the school. Prior to American School of Bombay, Joseph served as Special Assistant to a Superintendent of public schools in New York City where he assisted the Superintendent and her team in the conception and implementation of various region-wide initiatives. Joseph holds a BA in American Studies from Yale University and an MA in Latin American Cultural Politics from the University of London.
